Pultec Passive EQ Collection: UAD has the best one, but TubeTech's version 2 is very good, IK TRacks Pultec, Waves PuigtecĪPI® 500 Series EQ Collection: IK TRacks EQ-PA/PB/PG, Sknote CH5, Waves API Collection SSL 4000E: Waves CLA Mixhub, Brainworx SSL Channel, IK TRacks British Channel, Original Waves SSL Channel (which actually matches the hardware the closest to my ears, hardware is subtler in practice than all these models) Harrison 32C: Harrison Mixbus32C but you need to use the whole DAW Helios Type 69: ? Waves Kramer HLS is a lame attempt UA-610 Channel A/B: ? The ability to automatically adjust input impedance on the preamp is unique, but plenty of freely adjustable impedance preamps are available, and personally once level-matched I find it rare in practice to notice much beneficial difference, certainly not on condensers. OTOĪntares (although realtime latency is unique)
Softube: Tube-tech, Summit, Valley People, Amp Room. Plugin Alliance: brainworx, SPL, Millenia, Dangerous, Shadow Hills, Vertigo, elysia, ADA, Maag, Tonelux, many of the amp models, etc Please add and comment on your favorites! Some I've never tried so I am guessing as to alternatives. I found scattered results for many of these and consolidating them all in one thread will help. Here is my list so far and I'd enjoy your adding the options I have left out! Links would be too much work in the era of Google, I'm just including enough name to search with. With that said, what are the best native alternative plugins to replace the UAD plugins we love? Again with no workflow interruptions due to DSP limits, track freezing, long roundtrip latencies and having to decide whether to print or preserve flexibility later. That would be real hardware virtualization with near knob-per-function ergonomics, very low latency, and no mousing around while trying to be creative and capture the golden take.

Full integration with native DAWs a'la Melodyne ARA would get us back to the Pro Tools TDM-style workflow, but even better I think for UAD would be creating a hardware console with the equivalent of a dozen cores, a center section with a touchscreen interface onto the selected plugin, plenty of i/o and expandable banks of 8 faders with assignable knobs. Having to navigate two separate DAWs effectively while tracking is just a nonstarter. To win me back I think the pricing has to go way down of course, but the thing that put it over the top for me was the fiddly Console app. But having sold everything and rebuilding in this day and age I've decided not to get back into UAD, the prices and instance limitations are simply too anachronistic, and with hardware clones from Warm, Golden Age and Klark Teknik offering decent real analog at true zero latency the idea of tracking through low latency plugins is no longer so appealing. I've been a huge proponent of UAD since the UAD-1 days, for many years running 14 cores with nearly all the plugs and an Apollo 16.
